OPEN AND DISTANCE EDUCATION FOR LEARNING

As technology evolves through different generations, opportunities to access education have to change. Unfortunately, many countries cannot access reliable networking sources or institutions; distant learning would be the next option. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, everything shut down, including in-person schooling. Most of all institutions provide education online, including K-12. That provided an opportunity for distance learning for remote persons (Col.org). The opportunity produced a flexible alternative for the many persons who wanted to continue education and eliminate any transference of the virus.

With open education learning, the opportunities for students to express themselves with open licenses, sources, citations, and textbooks. Open learning also benefits adults who have a busy schedule with careers, family duties, life responsibilities, and other activities that would not allow the set schedule to take courses at set times. Although it may produce a lack of motivation and teamwork and decrease in-class participation, it would be up to the instructor to provide a more constructive assignment and activities to keep students attention. “With the availability of AI technology, insights of more designs and future advancements towards how students engage in learning will produce more demand for institutions to enhance learner demands” (Tang, 2020).

“Education has evolved to benefit many more from around the world to produce an equal opportunity with dedication towards learning” (Dewy, 2021). Understanding that would be a possibility depends on the student. I would incorporate open learning for any active military personnel, persons doing mission work, and persons on the ocean for half of the year the opportunity to obtain an education at their pace. The assignments would be there from where they left off, and they could communicate with classmates who may have the same schedule with peer-to-peer assistance.

Thank you.
